Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Pagetree (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit pagetree.net, create an account, publish a page, or otherwise use our services (the “Service”).
By using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Pagetree.
1. Who we are
Pagetree is operated by the team behind pagetree.net. For privacy-related questions or requests, contact us at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
We collect information in these categories:
- Account information — email address, username, password (stored in hashed form), profile details you choose to add, and authentication data if you sign in with a third party (such as Google or GitHub).
- Content you publish — text, links, images, videos, and other materials you add to your Pagetree page(s), including settings and design choices.
- Usage and technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, features used, referral URLs, and similar logs needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
- Analytics on your public page — if you enable analytics, we may collect aggregated visit data about viewers of your published page (for example page views and referrers). This data relates to your page’s visitors, not your Pagetree account login activity.
- Newsletter and form data — if you use newsletter signup, contact forms, booking widgets, or similar features, we process submissions made through your page on your behalf.
- Payment information — subscriptions are handled by Paddle, our payment provider. We receive billing status, plan type, and transaction references from Paddle; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Communications — messages you send to support and emails we send you (account notices, security alerts, product updates).
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
- Create and manage your account and published pages;
- Process subscriptions and send billing-related communications;
- Send service emails (verification, password reset, security notices);
- Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Use;
- Monitor for abuse, fraud, and security incidents;
- Understand how the Service is used and develop new features;
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process personal data on these bases:
- Contract — to provide the Service you signed up for;
- Legitimate interests — security, fraud prevention, analytics, and product improvement, balanced against your rights;
- Consent — where required (for example optional marketing emails);
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data by law.
5. How we share information
We share information only when necessary:
- Service providers — hosting, storage, email delivery, analytics, customer support tools, and payment processing (including Paddle), under contracts that require them to protect your data.
- Public content — information you publish on your Pagetree page is visible to anyone who visits that page.
- Legal and safety — if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of the Service.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
6. International transfers
We may process data in countries other than where you live. When we transfer personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) where required by law.
7. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above:
- Account data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward (for example to resolve disputes or meet legal requirements).
- Published content may remain until you delete it or close your account.
- Logs and security records may be kept for a limited period.
You may request deletion as described below.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal information;
- Export your data in a portable format;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based;
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
You can update account details in your dashboard and unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those messages.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure performance, and protect against abuse. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may limit functionality.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Third-party links and embeds
Your Pagetree page may link to or embed third-party services (social networks, videos, payment tools, etc.). Those services have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated by email or in-product notice where appropriate.
